How do we uniquely add value to the search process?

We add unique value when we conduct a search, including:

Deep knowledge of the field. In addition to our experience in executive search, we have worked directly in the field. Martha Montag Brown headed a corporate foundation, directed a global community affairs department and has worked with non-profits professionally and personally for more than 25 years. Elissa Kittner is a corporate social responsibility consultant who has worked in corporate and non-profit settings for the last 15 years.



Extensive global networks and contacts. We have extensive global networks and contacts that draw upon our professional experiences and broad relationships with senior leaders in the field, former colleagues, and prior search placements. We maintain a highly customized database of targeted candidates and sources in corporate, foundation and non-profit positions. We focus on experts in the areas of corporate social responsibility, community affairs, philanthropy, health care, social justice, international development, children/youth/families, environmental affairs, and others.



High quality candidates. Our clients frequently comment on the high quality of our candidate pools. We judiciously screen potential candidates only putting forth the best candidates for the job. Our creative, focused outreach process allows us to identify current leaders in the field as well as candidates from untapped sources.

We have an exceptional track record in identifying and placing people of color and women, and have strong connections in diverse communities through professional relationships and affinity groups. Our results speak for themselves. More than 55% of our placements have been people of color, and 53% have been women.



Customized strategy. Every search is unique and every client has their own special needs – whether it is the expertise and background needed for the position, a particular fit within a work environment, desired interpersonal skills and leadership style, or a tight search timeframe. We have found that it is highly effective to develop an outreach strategy that is uniquely tailored for each individual search.



Timely customer service. Through our customized approach and personal involvement, we are exceptionally responsive to our clients’ needs. We are extremely sensitive to the fact that many clients are working on tight deadlines to fill critical positions. From the moment we start the search, we take a focused, aggressive approach to outreach, and are usually able to present our clients with an initial slate of high quality candidates within a few weeks of the start of the search.



Personal approach. We are a small practice and as such are able to be involved personally in each and every search we take on. We are available and accessible to our clients. We directly handle the client meetings, sourcing, outreach, candidate interviews and reference checking, and do not delegate to more junior staff.



Ethical. We receive consistent feedback from clients and candidates alike that we are constructive, candid and ethical in our approach. In working with our clients, we always provide fair and accurate assessments of candidates and their suitability for the position to ensure the right fit. Similarly, in all of our interactions with candidates, we provide direct and honest feedback throughout the search process so they know the status of the search and exactly where they stand.
